saniderm
Saniderm is a clear breathable bandage that is to be left on for 5 days. The purpose of Saniderm is to protect the tattoo from foreign bacteria, while promoting healing through collection of blood and plasma. While it is recommended to leave on for 5 days, Saniderm must be removed early if:
The bandage peels up and exposes the tattoo (DO NOT stick it back down)
There is redness, itchiness, or bumps around the perimeter of the bandage
Water gets trapped beneath the bandage from showering
The collection of blood, ink, and plasma leaks out of the bandage
To remove Saniderm, hold the bandage under warm running water. Use dial antibacterial soap as a lubricant around the edge. Carefully roll the edges of the bandage to remove it. Use the dial antibacterial soap and your fingertips to carefully remove the excess adhesive.
Saniderm is breathable and waterproof, meaning it is perfectly fine to shower with it on. That being said, do NOT go swimming or submerge it completely in water.
post-saniderm
After the Saniderm is removed, the tattoo must be washed 1-2 times per day with dial antibacterial soap. After, when the tattoo is try, moisturize with a white fragrance free lotion. Aquaphor or other tattoo balms may also be used to moisturize. With any moisturizer used, a little bit goes a long way. Make sure it is completely rubbed into the skin and nothing is sitting on top of the tattoo.

replacing saniderm
If I have given you a second piece of Saniderm to replace the original, here are the instructions. If you have purchased a different brand of Saniderm yourself, follow the instructions on the label. If you have any questions, it is always best to reach out before preparing the skin incorrectly.
Remove old Saniderm: Under warm running water, remove the old Saniderm using Dial antibacterial soap as lubricant around the edges. Roll the edges rather than tearing.
Clean Skin: After removal, use the Dial antibacterial soap and your fingertips to gently remove excess adhesive.
Dry Skin: Allow skin to air dry for 5-10 minutes before applying Saniderm. To manually dry, gently pat dry with a paper towel. DO NOT use reusable bath towels or face cloths, as those can harbor bacteria.
Apple Saniderm: Remove white paper backing from bandage. Be sure there is decent margin covering the edge of the tattoo. Press sticky side of bandage to center of the tattoo (center to center) and apply pressure to each edge, smoothing out bubbles. On the top film, there should be orange arrows indicating a seam. Separate that seam by pulling the bandage in opposing directions. Peel off the plastic to reveal your new bandage.
