After a drawing is approved, your stencil will be printed. The area to be tattooed will be washed and shaved by the artist. Then, a stencil gel is spread on top of the skin and the stencil is placed. It is important to keep in mind that the stencil is not permanent! It can be moved, changed, resized etc as many times as you need. It’s the artist’s job to accommodate, so don’t feel bad for asking.
During the tattoo process, a needle cartridge is pulled across your skin to make a line. The needle penetrates the first and second layer of skin, which is about the width of a dime. While it is painful, most people get used to it quickly. Your artist will allow as many breaks as you need, or even offer to schedule a second session if you feel you need one.
After the tattoo is complete, the tattoo is wiped down one last time and a clear, waterproof bandage is place on top to cover. This bandage stays on for 3-5 days and keeps it clean and hydrated in the first steps of healing. If there is an allergy, then plastic wrap will be used. This must be removed within the first few hours, and then it is up to you to keep it clean and hydrated.
